An easy way to regulate Your Nervous System

The P.O.DO.H. Protocol, as a tool implemented by Sri Radha Govinda Mataji in her course Rewiring Karmic Patterns: Six Weeks to Better Relationships, is built on the principle that your biology dictates your choices; a body in survival mode cannot access higher wisdom or change deep-seated habits.

It is a game changer that has references also in important scientific research.

Have a look! P stands for Pranayama, O for essential oils, D for devices off and H for hypnosis.

Here a few simple concepts that will be developed further during the course: https://karunacare.mykajabi.com/rewiring-karmic-patterns

  1. P – Pranayama: The Science of Slow

Research indicates that the average person breathes 12–20 times per minute, which keeps the body in a state of low-grade stress. A simple technique to get away from the stress zone is the slow breath: lowing the breath to 6 breaths per minute (5 seconds in, 5 seconds out) creates "cardiac coherence," where the heart, brain, and nervous system synchronize.

It makes a great difference. It is a cuddle for our internal organs and our mind as well.

  1. O – Essential Oils: Limbic System Hacking

The sense of smell (Gandha) is the only sense that bypasses the thalamus and goes directly to the amygdala and hippocampus—the centers of emotion and memory.

  • The Blood-Brain Barrier: Essential oils contain molecules, which are capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier to increase oxygenation in the brain's limbic center.

Concept: Different scents trigger different responses in your brain.

  • For Relaxation:

Lavender: The superstar of the study. It increases Alpha waves in the brain, lowering anxiety and helping you sleep.

  • For Focus & Energy:

Peppermint & Lemon: These "wake up" the brain, improving concentration and memory.

These are some examples of oils, but there is a great variety of choices and different ways the oils can be used in our daily life so it's a call for experimentation and discovery of what better suits us.

  1. – Offline Devices: Digital Detox

Modern technology acts as a constant "Rajasic" stimulant that keeps the nervous system overloaded.

  • Blue Light Interference: Research shows that blue light exposure inhibits melatonin production, which doesn't just ruin sleep—it prevents the nervous system from entering the "Repair and Recover" state necessary for rewiring.

  • Cortisol Spikes: Frequent notifications trigger micro-doses of cortisol, keeping the "Biological Gatekeeper" in a state of high alert.

The solution? Regulate the time when you are on a device, there are also many Digital Wellbeing apps that we can install on our mobile to monitor ourselves.

  1. HO – Hypnosis: Rewiring Subconscious Samskaras

       Hypnosis targets the subconscious "Software".

  • The Critical Factor: Research into the "Neuroscience of Focus" shows that hypnosis allows you to bypass the "Critical Factor" of the mind—the analytical filter that rejects change because it feels "unfamiliar".

  • Neuroplasticity: By entering a Theta brainwave state, you can begin the "Re-wire" process, making Sattva (peace) feel like "home" rather than an unfamiliar threat.
