Destiny is Malleable, So Put Down the Suitcase
There is a common misconception that karma is a prison sentence—that our lives are written in stone and we are just playing out a pre-determined tragedy. I prefer to look at it differently.
Karma is like a long-haul airplane ride.
When you were born, you were handed a boarding pass. There are things about this flight you didn’t choose and cannot change: the pilot is already in the cockpit, the windows are where they are, and the destination was set by your past actions. This is "nature and nurture."
Most people spend the entire flight complaining about the lack of legroom. They lament the past, shouting at the seatback in front of them because they wanted a first-class ticket. But here is the secret: What you do with your time on the airplane determines what happens when you land.
If you spend the flight reading and gaining knowledge, you walk off with wisdom.
If you spend it stealing from the snack cart or fighting with fellow passengers, you end up in jail.
Destiny is not a fixed point; it is malleable. God helps those who help themselves, and that help starts the moment we stop lamenting the past and start using the gifts we have today. You can't change the plane, but you can change the passenger.
Don't wait for the landing to start your life. Write your future right now, from seat 14B. If you wish to learn some secrets in my tool box to fly the right flight, join the course that starts in two weeks.
